Attoparsec is proud to announce its new Eight Channel EL Wire Interface Kit! Using this kit you can easily control up to 8 strands of EL wire using any microcontroller.
Why do you need this? Because EL wire blinking on a basic sequencer is boring. We can do better! Once you can control it from an microcontroller, you can invent any pattern that you like. The interface card can handle fade in/fade out effects with ease. You can do complicated, synchronized animation. Best of all, you can add input. Potentiometers to vary speed. Switches to change mode. And sensors, to make it reactive to its environment. Think accelerometers, proximity sensors, GPS. Connected to a CPU, EL wire is just another display!
For examples of what can be done with this system, please see the demonstration page which includes both source code and video.
The kit includes the circuit board and components for building the interface. It does not include EL wire, an EL wire driver, or microcontroller. You're on your own there.
The assembly instructions are provided online, as we are as lazy as we are environmentally conscious. Assembly is quite straight forward, requiring only moderate soldering skills.
The Eight Channel EL Wire Interface Kit is USD $20.00, plus shipping.
