Tides is a kinetic sculpture made for aunt, who is one of the artists who inspired me to explore the possibility myself. It is inspired by the complicated ebb and flow of tidal patterns in dense estuaries like Puget Sound. Following a similar mathematical pattern, the sprockets turn to move chain between them, forming elegant catenaries that flow back and forth over time.
